In a world where ideas and innovation are greatly contributing to the economic and social development of countries and with the world a global village where knowledge is shared and exchanged, CUIB has since its creation given a different feel to the rhetoric rudimentary education practiced in Cameroon, through its initiation and propagation of an entrepreneurial or Professional based educational curricula throughout its academic heartland. The entrepreneurial style of education brings out creativity and action, innovation, values, Spirituality and character and a flexible curriculum that is adapted based on societal and industrial needs.
CUIB students from freshman year to their senior year are introduced and absorbed into the entrepreneurship culture. CUIB’s Entrepreneurship Culture is very unique and comprehensive.
It takes care of the Heart and Soul of Entrepreneurship. Heart “teche” in Greek being the technical knowledge, competence and skills they learn in their respective disciplines. The training enables them to come up with business ideas and innovations, to work on these ideas and end up with end results producing products or offering services to the community. The students often begin by identifying problems within their society and working on possible solutions to eradicate these problems. Soul, being the character, Spirituality, ethics, faith, mindset of the students which builds in them a strong value system and makes them entrepreneurs of caliber in a society where greed, corruption, selfishness, blackmail, envy and jealousy has become the order of the day.
CUIB through its Centre for Entrepreneurship, Research and Innovation (CERI) enforces a training which guides, challenges and empowers students to be able to identify income generating ideas that solve issues affecting their societies or bring a new touch to services already existing? This Center provides the students; one-on-one coaching, runs the Annual Academic and Entrepreneurial Trade Fair, exposes students to national and international mentors through its monthly Guest Speaker programme, the incubator programme to test new ideas, Boot Camp activities and Business Challenge competitions just to mention a few. Through these different aspects of entrepreneurship, students learn to apply their imagination to challenging problems, conceive prototypes and create solutions that develop environmental, social and economic value, thus coming up with sustainable innovations that will make the world a better place.
The entrepreneurial approach to education not only makes CUIB students innovators but also serves as a platform for the students to know who they are: their capabilities in terms of leadership, team work, individual work as well as social interactions and presentations.
